ABS-CBN Showtime Cyber Crew Story

Over the past few months, I haven't managed to slack around to watch TV shows since I don't have enough time. I work at night and when I got home, I go to sleep immediately. Everything was changed when my girlfriend's Tito bought a brand new TV that was able to get signal to all the local stations available. Compared to the old TV that we have, this one is real tight.

Yesterday, while I'm at home with my girlfriend lying on her bed, we have nothing else to do but to watch TV. We were both watching Showtime from ABS-CBN Channel 2 and was very focused on their contestants throwing around their group mates to impress the judges and of course, to win the grand prize. One group struck me and my girlfriend. They call themselves the Cyber Crew who's from Koronadal City, South Cotabato. That city is located down south of the Philippines. Going there is a long trip if you're not gonna take a plane. But those guys sailed all the way from Koronadal to Manila and I suppose it took them 3 days until they arrived here. I admire their determination to join the contest even though its not yet sure that they'll win the prize. After a long trip, they headed to the PBB House or Bahay Ni Kuya in Quezon City to register their group to the contest. Showtime by the way is a talent show program of ABS-CBN but most of the contestants that I've seen there are Dance Groups. Unfortunately, they didn't reach the deadline for the next contest. So, they will have to wait for a couple more days to register again. Most of them doesn't have relatives or friends here in Manila and that's too hard for them to stay longer here since they don't have enough money to spend more days here in Manila. Good thing is, one of their group mates know somebody from Montalban Rizal. Them guys decided to go there without hesitation since that's their only resort. While staying at Montalban, somebody told them that there's gonna be a Dance Contest at Caloocan City. They went there and joined the contest but unfortunately, they didn't make it to the top. Another sad story was that one of their colleague broke both of his legs when he was doing his acrobatic moves. It was all because of a confetti at the stage. Its sad that they didn't win the contest and one of their friend got hurt seriously.

It wasn't an end for the group. They were so determined to join the Showtime contest so they headed back to ABS-CBN and this time they got a slot and was scheduled to show their moves on the show. When the big day came in, I noticed that they're very good. It was like a HipHop dance group from the streets of L.A. Personally, I liked their group because they dance HipHop in a HipHop way. Compared to the other groups who joined the contest, they have this word "HipHop" in their group name but seems to be dancing ballet on the stage and yeah, they look ridiculous. I was so impressed with Cyber Crew's performance on stage. After performing, that's when I heard their story and that made my girlfriend touched specially when she saw one of their group mate on a wheelchair who's waiting for them beside the stage. The guy was so lucky since his hospitalization is being sponsored by Vice Ganda and Vhong Navarro, that's P25,000 each leg. Good news is, they won the contest and will be back on Saturday for the Weekly Finals. Its amazing how this guys overcome their hardships inspite of the trials and difficulties they encountered spending days here in Manila thinking that it was their first time.

It was really an inspiration to all of us specially if we feel down and upset to any circumstances that we may have encountered. This was actually a lesson to all of us that we should erase the word "SURRENDER" to our vocabulary. To the Cyber Crew, if you happen to read this post, just wanna let you know that I'm a fan of your group.

New Firmware For Nokia's Ex-Flagship Phones N95 and N82

Nokia recently announce the latest firmware updates that they'll be releasing for their ex-flagships N-series phones. I have been waiting for an update since the V31 for my N82 and was glad about this upcoming updates. At first, I thought it would just be the N95 who's lucky to have an update but when I dig in over the web, I found out that even my N82 will have a brand new update to V35. I haven't updated my phone actually to V31 since I don't want to hack it again to install unsigned applications to mobile phone. Its not that I don't know how to do it, its just that I am tired of doing it and I don't have my own computer to install the NSU.

The past few weeks, I have been longing for an update to my N82 maybe because I'm tired of the V22 on my phone. With this brand new update, V35, I will make sure that I'm gonna have this update on my phone. I hope this new update will fix some minor issues on my N82. I'm still waiting for some elite hackers who can be able to reverse engineer this new firmware update of Nokia's ex-flagship phones N95 and N82. I will update soon once I found some hack for the V35!

I won a Schützen® Notebook from Batang Yagit!

I was blog hopping last week when I was at work since we don't have much of work loads. I was reading my feed subscriptions in Google Reader and noticed this new blog entry from Batang Yagit. Batang Yagit to those who doesn't know, is one of the most read blog in the Philippines. Going back to the post I mentioned, its all about a Christmas Gift that Batang Yagit will be giving out to his readers. There's a catch though, you will have to join the contest weekly to win the prizes. That's the challenge there. You must exert a little effort to win prizes. The first gift is a Schützen® Notebook, a locally produced notebook with an elegant and synthetic leather cover.

The first contest is too easy, you just have to fill-in the bubble thought of Batang Yagit. I tried my luck and replied to the post saying, "Yagit nga, blogger naman!". Not realizing that that line will be the choice of  Batang Yagit and his Friends. I am glad that I won the contest. To be honest, it was my first time winning a contest both online and in real life. Lol. Thanks to Batang Yagit and to Hildebrand for the Notebook!

Jelly Lens -- Mobile Phone Camera Lens

Few weeks before, I have been continuing my search of a lens for my mobile phone's camera. Been wanting to have one since I'm into photography too. There's a lot of option available over the internet but I don't have credit card to buy them online. And those lenses are only available overseas. So, that's gonna cost me the price of the product plus the shipping fee. I'm done with the local malls. A forum member at Symbianize once told me that there's an available Optical Lens for Mobile Phone in Mall of Asia. I went there and find the store but didn't have any luck at all. Then I went back online to find some lens again.

Jelly Lens - Share on Ovi

Searched at Google about "Lens for N82" and it gave me a lot of results. Then one result struck me saying Jelly Lens for your Mobile Phone and Camera. I checked on it and I thought that its cool. Its a fancy little lens that you have to mount at the lens of your mobile phone. You can even use this on your camera phone. I bought 4 Jelly lenses at a local mall. One is for Macro, the other one is for Fish Eye, the third one is for Spark and the last one is Polarizer. I am really enjoying the Macro lens and the Fish Eye lens. I was so amazed that this fancy little lens can be able to satisfy my need. The Fish Eye is good for lomography too. The only con that I have noticed is that the jelly loses its stickiness fast and also, it doesn't fit that good in the lens of my N82 phone. I'm so jealous with my friend's phone because my lens fits well on their phone. So I'm planning to buy a low-end mobile phone but have a good camera for me to use the lens on them. I already have a sample shots in my Facebook account.

My Brother and his TV

Recently, I went to my brother's pad in Makati to bring back some of my stuffs from my girlfriend's house. Its been a long time since I haven't visited the place. My brother wasn't there so I'm all alone when I got there. I noticed some differences when I entered his room. Of course, the place is still messy. I just thought that nothing has change. I fixed my things up so that I can go back to my girlfriend's house because I'm already missing her.

One thing that I noticed is that my brother got a brand new TV and a DVD Player. I turned on the TV and noticed that he is subscribed to local cable company. I tried changing the channels but it seems that other channels are not that clear and some are out-of-this-world channels. Then, I realized that my brother should've subscribed to a Satellite TV. I read an article once that Direct TV System are more reliable than the local cable company. The Direct TV Packages are promising and irresistable and gives security to their subscribers too. Direct TV offers reliable packages that I'm sure my brother would love to check out.

When my brother will be back from Tarlac, I should tell him great stories about Satellite TV, Direct TV Deals and how he can save money and enjoy quality TV experience. This can benefit him a lot since he is saving money at this time.

New Interface for Google Adsense

Google Adsense is really innovating to help publishers online manage their business. A beta version of Google Adsense interface has been released and for limited slots only. With the beta version, you can be able to view daily stats in graphical formats. Amounts earned from various ad, targeting and bid types has been added to the metrics. Some options has been modified so it can be a more user friendly interface. With the screenshot from the Adsense blog, the interface looks similar to Google Analytics and with regard to my experience using Analytics, everything is simple.

Limited beta has been rolled out today in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Japanese. The limited beta can not be limited for the next coming weeks because the Adsense will roll out this test to thousands of publishers from all over the world. They will just be sending an email notifications to the participants for them to be informed. I will have to wait for the email then and maybe I will be one of the lucky participants.

My new BP-6MT

For over how months, I have been sacrificing with my battery's performance. The life of my battery didn't reach for over a year but I think that it is just normal with the way I use it. I take pictures a lot, play music a lot, use wLan almost everyday and play with my GPS when travelling. While doing those chores, my phone is plugged in to its charger that triggered its performance specially when getting online. Then, I noticed that my phone keeps shutting off because of "Battery Empty" message. I really hated it because it caused me trouble specially when I'm having calls. Then, I will have to carry my USB Charger everyday to the office to charge up my battery. Now I realized that charging battery in an abnormal way is not healthy at all. It doesn' really help your battery performing well. I know what are the pros and cons when charging my battery even if its not empty its just that I'm an OC with my battery life. I always make sure that it is full barred every day. When one is missing, I will then charge it even if its not empty. I don't know. I've been doing this since I first got my first phone (3310 era). Just this afternoon, I bought a brand new battery, BP-6MT, for my N82 phone and I will always make sure that its emptied first before charging it up. With that, you're not gonna damage your charger and you're gonna have fun doing your chores with your mobile phone. This should be working fine after 6 months because beyond that, its not gonna be covered with its warranty. Good luck to me!

Windows 7 available in the Philippines on November 7

Discounts are waiting for the early buyers of Windows 7 here in the Philippines. Windows 7, the latest and I think one of the stable Operating System by Microsoft will be soon available soon here in the Philippines on November 7. Compared to Vista, Windows 7 is more stable just like Windows XP. I first heard of Windows 7 earlier this year and was thinking that it should be as stable as Windows XP. I got a chance of using Windows 7 from one of my customers in U.S. Thank God to the remote access technology! And yes, its fast and its reliable thinking that that customer is just using 1GB of RAM.

Home Basic Edition is at P7,777 and after November 8, it will cost you P8,000. Other versions like Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate will be ranging from P9,500 to P16,500.

The minimum requirement for Windows 7 would be at least 1 GHZ, 1GB and 16GB HDD.

Trick or Treat

I got bored and have nothing to do while taking my lunch break so I thought of posting something in my blog. I don't really have anything on my mind so I think what's good to be done is to just greet ya'll Happy Creepy Halloween. Every year, it is one of the holidays that I do really wait for. The reason is, I love watching those TV shows telling stories about ghosts and not-like-ours creatures. Well, the bad thing is I can't watch those TV shows now because I'm at work and I'm at graveyard. Tsk tsk tsk. Anyway, just wanna say Happy Halloween ya'll and God bless the souls of our beloved who already went upstairs.

Bagyong Santi

Days Are Being Counted For Nokia's N-Gage

When I first got my N82, I was so happy that there's a built in N-gage application in it. I made ways to get updates on the games and to download the latest games that N-gage will release. One of the best is the "One", my all time favorite. But this doesn't seem to work at all. I just heard some rumors that the N-gage gaming platform of Nokia will soon be closed.

What I like more in N-gage is that its bundled with my phone. No need for me to bring any additional gadget just to pacify me when I'm out waiting for nothing. But it seems that the Market is not that fund of playing N-gage games. Classic games has been released by N-gage like Worms World Party but competitors like PSP, Gameboy, Nintendo and other portable devices are still on top in the industry. The only problem with N-gage is that there's no way for you to transfer the your paid content to a different device.

What I heard is that it will soon close on September 2010, after how many years of service.

Comparing 32bit to 64bit Windows Operating System

People might take this one for granted but this feature of our computer is important specially if we are installing drivers and softwares on our computer. Basically, 64bit is more efficient compared to 32bit. 32bit cannot handle more information than that of the 64bit. 32bit can only handle up to 3GB of Random Access Memory (RAM) compared to 64bit than can handle higher RAM. When you're running lots of application at the same time and you transfer window to Window, you will notice that transferring is slow if you're running a 32bit Operating System (OS). Sometimes, computers don't load that fast in 32bit compared to 64bit. As what have been mentioned awhile ago, 32bit cannot handle loads of information compared to 64bit. And FYI, only 64bit capable processor can run a 64bit version of Windows.

It is important for us to know if we are running a 32bit or 64bit Operating System when we are installing a software/driver to our computer because software or driver that are written for 64bit only won't work in 32bit Operating System and vice versa.

For you to know if you are running a 32bit or 64bit in Windows 7 and Windows Vista, just click the Start button or others call it Pearl then right click Computer and then click Properties. Under System, there you can view the system type. For Windows XP users, just right click My Computer in Start or on your Desktop and then click Properties. Check if "x64 Edition" is listed. If its not listed, then you are using 32bit and if it is listed, I think you know the answer.

Coca-Cola is now looking for Three Lucky Bloggers from different different walks in life to be sent to 206 countries where Coca-Cola is being sold. It is part of the "Open Happiness" campaign by the Coca-Cola. The 3 lucky winners will spend a day or two in each country to meet with locals and then, they will Blog, Tweet and Upload some videos in Youtube about their discoveries. Its a year event and they will start their journey on January 1 next year. Adam Brown, Coca-Cola's director of Office of Digital Communications and Social Media, said, "It's not about having the Coca-Cola brand first and foremost, center of the screen. It's about telling the story that involves Coca-Cola, that involves the attributes of what Coca-Cola is about, optimism and joy."

I remember my girlfriend's mom telling us that Coke has been a witness of all the ups and downs of every individuals. Coke has been with us for how many years and is really bringing us "Joy".
